๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘€ โ€˜Monsterโ€™ Ex-Husband Allegedly Threatened Wife Before Brutal Ohio Murders

A family is speaking out with chilling ๐’ถ๐“๐“๐‘’๐‘”๐’ถ๐“‰๐’พ๐“ธ๐“ƒ๐“ˆ against the accused killer of a Columbus couple, describing him as a “monster” whose history of emotional ๐“ช๐“ซ๐“พ๐“ผ๐“ฎ and threats foreshadowed the brutal attack. Dr. Michael McKe, the ex-husband of victim Mon’nique Tepe, now faces aggravated murder charges for the December 30 shootings that claimed her life and that of her husband, Spencer Tepe, as their two young children slept unharmed.

Columbus police held a press conference this week, revealing for the first time the evidence they say solidly links McKe to the double homicide. Authorities described a targeted, domestic violence-related attack, with surveillance footage capturing a vehicle linked to McKe arriving at the Tepe home just before the 4 a.m. murders and fleeing shortly after.

“We believe at this point we have the person responsible for the murders of Mon’nique and Spencer Tepe in custody and that person is Michael McKe,” a police official stated, while cautioning the investigation remains active. A critical breakthrough came when multiple weapons were seized from McKe’s property. Forensic analysis has provided a preliminary ballistic link between one of those firearms and the homicides.

McKe, a vascular surgeon who studied at Ohio State University, was arrested on January 10 in Rockford, Illinois, by a multi-agency task force. He has since waived extradition and will be transported to Ohio to face the charges. Police confirmed McKe initially provided detectives with an alibi that subsequently collapsed under investigative scrutiny.

In an emotional interview, Rob Misla, brother-in-law to the slain couple, expressed no surprise at the arrest. He revealed the Tepe family had immediately suspected McKe, driven by Mon’nique’s own harrowing accounts of their brief, tumultuous marriage. “She would just call him her ex-husband,” Misla said. “And just how much of a monster he was, to be honest. Emotionally abusive and ๐“‰๐’ฝ๐“‡๐‘’๐’ถ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐’พ๐“ƒ๐‘”.”

Misla described a woman who worked tirelessly to rebuild her life after leaving McKe, finding happiness with Spencer Tepe. “She did everything she could to extricate herself from that situation,” he stated, noting Mon’nique had been willing to forfeit all marital assets just to secure her freedom. Despite her new life, Misla acknowledged a lingering fear. “I would say that she was always worried about him.”

The couple’s bond was a focal point at a recent funeral service that drew over a thousand mourners, described by the funeral home as the largest they had ever witnessed. Misla remembered Spencer Tepe, a dentist, as a charismatic “life of the party” and a devoted father, and Mon’nique as a radiant, joyful presence who was deeply committed to her children and community.

“He didn’t want this divorce. Not at all,” stated reporter Angelette Levy of Law&Crime, who has been closely following the investigation. Court records show Mon’nique and McKe married in 2015, separated after only seven months, but did not finalize their divorce until 2017 after Mon’nique returned to Ohio from Virginia.

The family now seeks full accountability as the legal process begins. “We feel very confident that he is guilty, that he is the one that did this,” Misla said, expressing steadfast confidence in the Columbus Police Department’s investigation. McKe remains held in the Winnebago County Jail awaiting transfer to Ohio, where he will answer to the charges that have shattered a family and stunned a community.
